The Director General of Non-formal Informal Early Childhood Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud), Lydia Freyani Hawadi, affirmed (the Directorate General) rejected the request of Jakarta International School (JIS) to re-open the Kindergarten.
She added JIS could propose opening JIS Kindergarten if the sexual harassment case handled by the police is complete, and (it) must fulfill requirements and make improvements, for example, by provided the subjects of religion, civics, and Indonesian.
In addition, JIS must also adapt to Government Regulation (PP) 17/2010 on managing Education and Education and Culture Ministry Regulation (Permendikbud) 31/2014 on Cooperation of Foreign Education Institutions with Indonesian Education Institutions, by changing from an international school into a national education unit, top regional (school), or cooperation education unit.
In regards alleged pedophile ring among JIS teachers, the police claims it must have a basis for investigation before conducting interrogation as well as inspection. The police will conduct an investigation if there are victims reporting, not based on statements of other parties.
